The 2024 NFL Draft is just five days away. Yes, you read that right. Single digits until the biggest weekend in the football calendar.
Hundreds of thousands of fans, analysts and personnel will descend upon Detroit to attend the NFL Draft where both players’ and team’s fortunes will change forever. The first overall pick is a foregone conclusion but the real intrigue of the draft starts at second overall as there isn’t any consensus on what the Washington Commanders will do.
Taking a look at different mock drafts during the cycle have been fascinating, especially for the Minnesota Vikings. Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network has the Vikings making a massive trade-up to get their quarterback of the future in his seven-round mock draft.
Vikings trade up for QB4 in NFL mock draft
4. Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy
The Vikings don’t just get their quarterback of the future at fourth overall, they end up trading picks 11, 23 and their 2025 first-round pick to make it happen. Is that too much? Not for Cummings.
The Vikings’ poker face is non-existent. They will try to package picks 11 and 23 to move up for a QB. The only question is how far they’ll move up. In my opinion, as long as the Cardinals’ phones are open, No. 4 is the prime real estate.
He’s right in that they have shown their hand consistently. However, that doesn’t mean General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is going to panic. He’s even said you can love more than one quarterback.
The rest of the mock draft has the Vikings taking a lot of different positions to fortify the roster.
