Veteran offensive line help is on the way to Las Vegas by way of New Orleans.
Longtime Saints starter Andrus Peat is signing with the Raiders, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Monday.
Peat, a 2015 NFL Draft first-round pick of the Saints who’s gone to three Pro Bowls, started 102 games over nine seasons in New Orleans. Peat primarily played guard, but after losing his starting gig last year saw time at left tackle and fared better on the outside than the interior.
Overall, Peat, 30, garnered a 60.2 overall grade, per PFF, in 2023, with his play at left tackle a leading reason he was ranked 92nd in Gregg Rosenthal’s top 101 free agents.
With Kolton Miller entrenched at left tackle, Peat is likely to offer depth and a veteran presence on a line that welcomes the former Saints standout, former Bears offensive lineman Cody Whitehair and second-round draft pick Jackson Powers-Johnson. He could potentially mentor Powers-Johnson or give the rookie and/or veteran guards Dylan Parham and Whitehair some competition on the interior.
After nearly a decade in the Big Easy with the Saints, the former first-rounder is headed west to try his luck in Vegas.
