ESPN+ will exclusively stream an NFL game for the first time ever during the 2024 season.
The platform will aid the Disney-owned network’s coverage of a Monday Night Football double-header in Week 7.
ESPN+ has been covering MNF games for a while but only in addition to the main broadcast.
But on October 21, it will exclusively televise the Los Angeles Chargers against Arizona Cardinals matchup.
The clash at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, will kick off at 9 pm ET.
That’s 45 minutes after the Baltimore Ravens against Tampa Bay Buccaneers game gets underway on ESPN.
There are four MNF double-headers scheduled in the 2024 NFL season.
The other three will come in Weeks 3, 4, and 15.
The NFL is continuing to grow its digital presence after striking a TV rights deal with Amazon Prime Video and delivering the first online-only presentation of a playoff game on Peacock in recent years.
Netflix has become the league’s latest broadcast partner.
It will televise two Christmas Day games in 2024, Kansas City Chiefs against Pittsburgh Steelers and Ravens against Houston Texans.
“Last year, we decided to take a big bet on live — tapping into massive fandoms across comedy, reality TV, sports, and more,” said Netflix COO Bela Bajaria.
“There are no live annual events, sports or otherwise, that compare with the audiences NFL football attracts.
“We’re so excited that the NFL’s Christmas Day games will be only on Netflix.”
NFL executive VP of media distribution Hans Schroeder added: “We couldn’t be more excited to be the first professional sports league to partner with Netflix to bring live games to fans around the world.
“The NFL on Christmas has become a tradition and to partner with Netflix, a service whose biggest day of the year is typically this holiday, is the perfect combination to grow this event globally for NFL fans.”
