Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly watching a lot of South American football and is keen on bringing in a box-to-box player this summer.
The strangest thing about that sentence is that he is apparently after a box-to-box player when he already has a perfect box-to-box player that he absolutely adores in Conor Gallagher.
Listen, we have to take these reports with a pinch of salt I guess, and to be honest, the player that the report is talking about is a winger anyway, and not a box-to-box midfielder.
The report, as cited by The Blue Dodger, says Mauricio Pochettino is watching a lot of South American football. Chelsea are looking for a box-to-box player.
He is talking about a player who was linked with Chelsea yesterday, winger Roman Sosa who plays for Argentine club Talleres and the Paraguay national team.
He adds Ramon Sosa fits the bill for all that. Chelsea is the one most interested in Ramon Sosa. It’s the English club that asked more about him.
I think this sounds like the kind of move that the Chelsea owners would make to sign Sosa for Strasbourg, who they of course own. I’m not sure this seems like a move for Chelsea, at least right now. But the player does have a £15.7m release clause so would represent a smart signing in terms of fee at least.
Perhaps Chelsea buy him and then loan him to Strasbourg. Or perhaps this is just purely a scouting mission by the club and any reports of signing him are premature.
But if Pochettino wants a box-to-box centre midfielder which is a position I don’t think we need to be prioritising right now, then Sosa is not your man being a wide player and not a central player!
Whilst the sport could seem like a foreign concept, the leagues and clubs are growing and are welcome for anybody to get involved. The Storm were crowne
