‘American Idol’ down to top 3 after surprise elimination
The top 3 on “American Idol” season 22 are set as two contestants were eliminated Sunday night during Disney Night. Abi Carter, Will Moseley and Jack Blocker moved on to the finals after performing “Part of Your World” (”The Little Mermaid”), “Space Oddity” (”Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”) and “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy” (”Toy Story 4″), respectively. Triston Harper and Emmy Russell were sent home, and the latter was a surprise as Russell was an early favorite as the granddaughter of country music legend Loretta Lynn. “American Idol,” which has been renewed for another season, will crown its 2024 winner on a three-hour finale Sunday, May 19, at 8 p.m. on ABC with appearances by Bon Jovi, New Kids on the Block, Jason Mraz, Seal, Wynonna Judd, and Hootie and the Blowfish. Episodes are also available for streaming on Hulu.
‘SNL’ highlights
Maya Rudolph embraced her “mother” status on “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend, delivering one of the best opening monologues in the show’s recent history with a Mother’s Day-inspired song. Other “SNL” highlights included a cold open with cast members’ moms, Rudolph as Beyonce on “Hot Ones,” musical guest Vampire Weekend, and an appearance by RFK Jr.’s brain worm during “Weekend Update.”
