Six College of Southern Idaho track and field athletes garnered All-American status at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which occurred this past weekend in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Athletes were named All-Americans from the US Track and Field and Cross Country Association, which gives that status to athletes who finish in the top eight in their respective events.
On the men’s side, sophomore Cayden Tupper became CSI’s lone All-American after finishing 6th in the 1500 meters (3:54.18). The Meridian native earned indoor All-American honors after he finished sixth in the mile.
After two years of successful running for the Golden Eagles, Cayden Tupper will run at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, starting this fall.
Five CSI female athletes claimed All-American status. Sophomore Elizabeth Phillips became an All-American for the sixth time after finishing fourth in the 5000 meters (18:00.92). The Utah State signee has been named an All-American at all six national championships she has competed in with CSI.

Sophomore Jennaveve Bingham and freshman Rozzlyn Cazier earned their second All-American nods. Bingham finished fourth in the 800 meters (2:11.20). and the Twin Falls alumnus was previously named an All-American after finishing third in the 800 meters at indoor nationals. Cazier earned All-American status when she finished eighth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11:24.61), and was a cross country All-American after finishing sixth at nationals.
A celebration occurred Thursday morning as CSI’s Abigail Case signed with University of Montana and Jennaveve Bingham inked with Utah Valley University.
Sophomore Abigail Case and freshman Madelyn Christensen were named All-Americans for the first time. Case finished seventh in the 10,000 meters (38:13.98), while Christensen finished fourth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (11:05.27).
She tried the 3,000 meter steeplechase for the first time, and is the event’s top seed entering the NJCAA Division I Men’s & Women’s Track and Field Championships.
