CHADRON — Tanner Gartner struck out four and also hit a home run as the Gering Platte Valley Companies senior team defeated the Chadron Platte Valley Bank 11-5 on Tuesday in an American Legion baseball game.
Gering jumped out to an early five-run lead and never looked back. Gering scored a run in five of the seven innings. Chadron scored single runs in five of seven innings in the contest.
Gering heads to Rapid City, South Dakota, for five games in a weekend tournament which begins Thursday.
Gering outhit Chadron 11-8 led by Bo Gable. He had two hits and two runs scored. Gartner had a home run and two runs scored.
Kobe Bissonette had two hits for Chadron while Caden Buskirk had a home run with two runs scored. Logan Slama led the way for Chadron with three singles.
Gartner went two innings and allowed just two hits, two runs, striking out four and walking three. Gable and Isaiah Murillo both came in relief in the game.

Gable went four innings with four hits, two runs scored and a strikeout with three walks. Murillo closed out the game with a strong seventh inning in allowing two hits and a run.
Chadron had a strong showing from Broc Berry on the mound. He went six innings in allowing seven hits, right runs and striking out seven.
Gartner led off the game with a solo home run, and PVC added four more in the second for a 5-0 lead.
Chadron cut the lead to 5-3 with single runs in the second, third and fourth innings.Gering got a run back in the fifth to make it 6-3 and then PVC added two more in the sixth.
Gering then plated three insurance runs in the seventh
In the junior game, the B&C team was one-hit by the Chadron in an 8-0 loss. Chadron’s Derek Bissonette went three innings and struck out five
Chadron finished with seven hits in the contest with two hits each from Braden Wright and Bricen Wright.
Colter Shellito had Gering’s lone hit.
