Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Iga Swiatek of Poland won the 2024 French Open men’s and women’s Tennis Single titles, respectively. It was the first French Open singles title for Alcaraz and the fourth singles title for the world no.1 Iga Swiatek. 

The 123rd edition of the French Open, also known as Roland Garros, was held at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France, from 26 May to 9 June 2024.It is the second Grand Slam event of a calendar year after the Australian Open. 

The Stade Roland Garros is a stadium which has many courts. The finals are always played on the  Philippe Chatrie Court. The French Open is played on clay court.

Third Singles Grand Slam Title for Alcaraz 

The 21 year old Sapniard won his career’s third Grand Slam title by winning the French Open single title. Carlos Alcaraz had previously won the US Open in 2022 and the Wimbledon in 2023. 

In the  2024 French Open, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Tokyo Olympic Champion Alexander Zeverev of Germany in five sets, 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.

The final, which was played on the Court Philippe Chatrier, lasted four hours and 19 minutes. It was Alcaraz’s 14th career singles title and the seventh title on clay.

Iga Swiatek wins her fourth French Open Singles Title 

World no.1 Iga Siatek of Poland defended her French Open singles title for the third time in a row. Iga Swiatek defeated Jasmine Paolini of Italy 6-2, 6-1 in the final played on 8 June 2024.

Iga Swiatek has now won the French Open singles title four times, in 2020,2022,2023 and 2024.

American Tennis great Chris Evert holds the record for maximum women’s singles title – seven times.

This was the fifth Grand Slam title for 23 year old Iga Swiatek . She has also won the US Open women’s singles title in 2022.

Coco Gauff wins Doubles title at French Open 

The American tennis sensation Coco Gauff became the youngest person to win both singles and Doubles Grand Slam titles.  The 2023 US Open women’s singles champion partnered with Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic to defeat the Italian pair of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in the final.

US Open Tournament : It is the fourth and final Grand Slam event of the year which is played in New York, United States of America. It is played on a Hard Court and is usually held in the August-September month.
