The US Embassy in Turkmenistan, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, celebrated US Independence Day with a concert by a musical group from the US Air Force Central Command.
This holiday for Americans dates back to 1776, when the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America from the Kingdom of Great Britain was adopted. The Americans themselves simply call it the Fourth of July.
The concert venue chosen for the performance was the shopping and entertainment centre «Berkarar». On the ground floor, a stage was improvised in a camp style. The space surrounding the stage formed an improvised porter, and the flights of stairs from the ground floor to the third floor were balconies.
The dress code for singers and musicians was the BBC uniform and no makeup. The appearance did not fit with our idea of pop artists, but as soon as the concert began, everything fell into place. Vocalists Jessica Betando and Victoria Parke immediately won the sympathy of the audience with their charm and democratic nature. The music does not need translation. Overseas melodies emotionally performed by drummer Quincy Brown and pianist Beatrice Skorby, as well as guitarists Alex Liu Maslas and Simon Evans found a response in the hearts of the listeners.
The audience surrounding the stage took pictures with the singers and shook hands right during the concert. And this did not irritate anyone, on the contrary, it created friendly content. Even after the concert program was over and another song was performed as an encore, the audience and singers continued to take selfies. The evening at the «Berkarar» shopping and entertainment centre brought many positive emotions to both American artists and Turkmen listeners.
