Disappointment turned into happiness for a former Mississippi State baseball player on Tuesday.
After not making the initial cut for inclusion on the American League roster for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, Jordan Westburg of the Baltimore Orioles was chosen as an injury replacement.
Westburg told Jason Foster, a writer and researcher for Major League Baseball, on Tuesday that he “was very honored, humbled” to be considered an All-Star.
“It’s something that coming into the year I didn’t – I certainly wouldn’t have expected,” Westburg said. “I have confidence in my abilities, but I would have never thought that I would be in the talks halfway through the year to be an All-Star. So it’s cool. It’s something that I’ll never forget, no matter how long my career goes.”
