On Wednesday, July 24th spectators and travelers along Highway 36 from St. Joseph, Missouri to Marysville will have the opportunity to get a look at some unique vehicles as Stage 3 of the Electrek American Solar Challenge races across a portion of northern Kansas.
This event is a 1,500 to 2,000-mile cross-country endurance rally across North America featuring collegiate-level teams from the U.S. and Canada. These futuristic vehicles, designed and built by college students, run solely on solar energy.
Throughout various parts of the day, citizens of Marysville will see these college racers as they turn north off Highway 36 onto Highway 77 on a route to the Homestead National Historic Park in Beatrice. You can keep track of when the vehicles will drive through by visiting the 2024 American Solar Challenge Webpage.
