American Cruise Lines proudly announces that American Liberty, its third new Coastal Cat, has successfully completed sea trials. The 100-passenger small ship was delivered ahead of schedule by Chesapeake Shipbuilding. American Liberty is the latest addition to American’s Project Blue, a series of 12 new small ships designed for river and coastal cruising in the U.S. The series continues to expand, with several more ships under construction, including the fourth Coastal Cat, American Legend, set to debut in November 2024, along with four additional Patriot Class ships.
“American Liberty is the newest ship in our fleet, reflecting our ongoing commitment to building small innovative ships for America’s rivers and coasts,” said Charles B. Robertson, President & CEO of American Cruise Lines
American Liberty is set to embark on its maiden voyage next month, departing on August 15th from Providence, Rhode Island. This roundtrip journey will follow the company’s renowned New England Islands itinerary, making stops in New Bedford, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard, MA; as well as Block Island, Newport, and Bristol, RI. Beyond this summer’s New England itinerary, American Liberty will offer a range of exclusive U.S. itineraries along the East Coast throughout 2024. These cruises combine the luxury of river cruising with the adventurous spirit of expedition cruising, all while visiting U.S. ports exclusively.
Following the successful launches of sister ships American Eagle and American Glory in 2023, American Liberty now joins the fleet as the newest vessel, highlighting the company’s strong market presence, fleet expansion, and diverse U.S. itineraries. American’s small ship fleet continues to grow annually, featuring innovative designs that provide exceptional accommodations for small ships. The company boasts the world’s only 100% U.S.-flagged fleet of riverboats and small cruise ships.
With a capacity of just 100 guests, American Liberty features four decks and the same catamaran bow design as its sister ships. It offers an elegant interior and private balcony accommodations, including spacious single and double-occupancy staterooms and suites. The ship also boasts a stunning top deck for panoramic views, comfortable indoor and outdoor lounges, a main restaurant, casual café, and fitness center—remarkable amenities for a vessel of its size.
