Noah Lyles remains an unpopular man among American sports stars.
On Monday, Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill clapped back at Lyles for his previous comments suggesting that U.S. league champions couldn’t refer to themselves as the best in the world.
“Noah Lyles can’t say nothing after what just happened to him,” Hill said on “Up & Adams.” “Then, he wants to come out and pretend like he’s sick. I feel like that’s horseradish. For him to do that and say that we’re not world champions of our sport? Come on, bruh. Just speak on what you know about. That’s track.”
Lyles won gold in the men’s 100-meter dash and finished with bronze in the 200m run despite later revealing that he had COVID-19.
The sprinter’s purported illness seemed to be a portal for Hill’s barbs, who was asked by host Kay Adams if he’d like to race Lyles.
“I will beat Noah Lyles,” Hill repeated. “Guess what? When I’m gonna beat him, I’m going to put on a COVID mask, and let him know I mean business. Because I do mean business.”
Hill doubled down on X shortly thereafter, implying that he’ll compete in track during the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
“I like me in a race 2028 I’m running,” Hill posted.
The 30-year-old Hill has been regarded as the fastest man in football since his breakout 2017 season — and there’s an empirical backing to the claim.
Hill was responsible for three of the 10 fastest mileages clocked by a ball carrier last year, per Next Gen Stats — all of which were 21.66 MPH or faster.
The wideout was also a blazer on the race course, reminding people of his track prowess by posting a 6.7-second 60-meter dash at the 2023 USA Track and Field Masters Indoor Championships.
While at Oklahoma State, Hill collected personal best times of 10.19 seconds in the 100m and 20.14 seconds in the 200m.
Meanwhile, Lyles notched a 9.79 in the 100m and a 19.70 in the 200m.
Lyles’ feud with Hill only compounds his ongoing saga with a slew of prominent American basketball stars, including Kevin Durant and Anthony Edwards.
The two-time medalist in Paris took to social media Monday to clarify that he did not refuse to attend an event for Edwards despite allegations that Lyles viewed the Timberwolves star as insignificant for not winning an NBA title.
