A fictionalized retelling of the rise and fall of NFL star Aaron Hernandez continues this week. A new episode of “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” airs on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 10 p.m. ET on FX.

Alex Hernandez played for the New England Patriots, was later convicted of murder and died in prison in 2017.

“American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” is based on The Boston Globe and Wondery podcast “Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.” In 10 episodes, the limited series charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores his identity, family, career, suicide and their legacy.

In tonight’s episode, “Pray the Gay Away‚” Aaron’s star status brings him acclaim, but he struggles to resist hidden temptations and seeks counsel from an unlikely source.
