American football commentators were left astounded by the son of AFL legend Dustin Fletcher as the 24-year-old punter from Victoria following his performance during a College Football match on Saturday.
Mason Fletcher took up a scholarship to join the University of Cincinnati in 2020.
The punter could have played for Essendon as a father-son selection after finishing school in 2019 but instead opted for a career stateside.
Fletcher is currently in his final year of college and will have hopes he can be drafted to the NFL next year, especially after showcasing his power during his side’s game against West Virginia this weekend.
While the Bearcats were beaten 31-24, Fletcher produced a brutal bump on kick returner Preston Fox.

The West Virginia speedster had collected one of Fletcher’s monster punts, before careering upfield 20 yards.
He dodged multiple defenders before he was bounced into touch by the 6ft 5in Aussie.
It was a brutal hit, with the commentators on Fox Sports shouting ‘whooooaa’ after the sensational hit.
‘These Australian guys, they play that Australian rules football, right?’ one commentator said.
‘(It’s) pretty much like punting the ball to each other, (so) they all become really good punters (and) it’s a physical sport.’
One commentator shouted ‘woooaah’ after the huge hit and was left aghast by the Aussie’s physicality
The young star has been impressing while playing for Cincinnati Bearcats over the past few years
Mason is the son of former Essendon star Dustin Fletcher, who won two premierships with the Bombers
It’s not the first time that American football fans and pundits have lost it over Fletcher’s abilities.
In 2022 he sent fans into a frenzy, with one writing: ‘Mason Fletcher is a problem’ after he hit the billionaire strut following a monster 54-yard kick during the College Football play-off finals against Alabama.
He is one of the league’s hot prospects right now having been named in the AAC First Team in 2022.
His dad, Dustin Fletcher, made 400 appearances for Essendon during his playing career while kicking 71 goals, notably winning two premierships in 1993 and 2000.
