Country music star Luke Bryan might have dashed any hopes of Beyoncé‘s return to the American Idol scene after supporting the exclusion of her album from the Country Music Awards’ nominations — his bosses are reportedly “furious.”

Bryan — who has sat on the judging panel alongside Lionel Richie and Katy Perry — issued a brutal response to Beyoncé getting shut out out of CMA nominations for her genre-crossing hit, Cowboy Carter, despite its roaring success.

Luke, who slated to co-host the CMAs with Peyton Manning and Lainey Wilson, chimed in with a pointed opinion, saying: “If you’re going to make country albums, come into our world and be country with us a little bit.”

“I’m all for everybody coming in and making country albums. But a lot of things don’t get nominated,” he added, brushing off the buzz around Beyoncé’s genre-bending album.

The Georgia-born singer tossed out some shade, implying Beyonce’s album wasn’t a sales juggernaut — though it’s gunning for top-selling status of the year, trailing behind only Taylor Swift.

Beyonce, 43, last graced the ABC singing competition with her presence during the season 10 finale in 2011, where she performed her hit song Crazy in Love.

As the show has seen a decline in ratings over recent years, the source shared: “They would give their eye teeth to get Beyonce back on the show as a performer and mentor”.

“Ratings were in the tank last season, and Beyonce brings a fan base who will watch her,” the insider added.
