Fantasy football enthusiasts have been left divided by one player’s incredibly petty act to close out his league’s regular season.
As posted on r/fantasyfootballadvice on Reddit, one player had been inactive the entire season – leading to a 2-11 record and his league-mates expelling him after this year.
But with the player eliminated from the postseason (which typically starts in Week 15 of the NFL season), he decided to wake up from his fantasy slumber and go out with a bang by outbidding everyone in his league for 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo.
Following long-term injuries to Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason, third-string Guerendo is set to be the starter for at least the next month, making him an extremely hot commodity before the fantasy playoffs.
And the fantasy troll spent $100 in ‘money’ to acquire the rookie – leaving many of his competitors high and dry in the process.
There were mixed reactions to the move on X.
Isaac Guerendo is set for a starting role at running back for the San Francisco 49ers
Christian McCaffrey is expected to spend at least six weeks on the sidelines with a PCL injury
‘Not all hero’s wear capes,’ one said.
‘Gotta respect this level of trolling,’ another added.
‘Thats how you make an exit from a league,’ a third proclaimed.
Others disagreed, with one saying, ‘Eliminated teams shouldn’t be allowed to have FAAB dumps like this.’
‘Some douche bag did that just a couple days ago,’ another said. ‘Last place team too. Special place in hell for ppl like this lmfao.’
‘A**hole,’ another raged.
In 12 games thus far (zero starts), Guerendo has 246 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Fantasy managers who scooped him up will hope that production skyrockets over the final stretch of the regular season.
