January 4, 2015, was a dark and gloomy day for the sporting community. This was the day when the beloved ESPN anchor, Stuart Scott, passed away after losing his courageous battle with cancer at the age of 49. Needless to say, the entire world shed tears for the warrior. Now, after about 9 years, Dana White shared a few words about the legendary anchor and joined hands to help raise funds for Stuart Scott’s cancer fundraiser.
Taking to social media, the UFC head honcho said, “I met Stuart Scott many years ago through SportsCenter and ESPN. One of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Obviously, very passionate about what he did. You could feel it in his commentary when he would deliver his lines on SportsCenter. Iconic! And one of the things that obviously stands out for me is he was a big MMA fan and he actually used to train. And we used to talk about different fights and how much he loved MMA.”
Without a doubt, the way Scott said “Booyaah!” was nothing short of legendary. Losing such a personality to cancer was as heartbreaking as it could get. To honor the analyst, ESPN collaborated with the V Foundation and established the Stuart Scott Memorial Cancer Research Fund. And with the UFC CEO’s help, V Foundation could get a major boost and help could reach the needy in a fast and efficient way.
