A STUNNING American sports car was spotted cruising through the streets of Manchester before it was pulled over by the police.
A beautiful Chevrolet Corvette was stopped by Greater Manchester Police in the city centre on the evening of Saturday, January 18.
It was later discovered that the driver of the white vehicle—believed to be the latest, eighth-generation model of the Corvette—did not possess the correct licence for it.
The Corvette was then seized by officers, and the driver was reported for driving without a proper licence.
GMP Traffic shared an image of the car on social media, stating: “Yippee Ki Yay Partners, this American muscle car was cruising around Manchester when it came to GMP Traffic’s attention.
“Pity the driver didn’t have a licence covering his use of the mean machine on public roads.
“The driver was reported for no licence and his Corvette was seized.”
Since its inception in 1953, the model has become one of the most famous American vehicles, synonymous with power and striking design.
The Corvette is one of the UK’s most imported cars, with over 1,000 examples registered on UK roads, according to How Many Left.
However, the iconic car went on sale in the UK for the first time, with right-hand drive.
For the same price as a BMW M4, passionate drivers can now officially buy the Corvette Stingray without having to import it from the US.
Leading car dealership Lumen Automotive has become the first car outlet to offer right-hand Corvettes to motorists.
The two models on offer are the standard Corvette Stingray and the sportier Corvette Z06, which is more track-focused.
The rear-wheel-drive muscle car costs less than £95,000, which is about the same price you would pay for a BMW M4.
Back in May, Chevrolet revealed it is rolling out its last ever saloon, after a history spanning nine generations.
The Malibu ended production in November to make way for a shift in focus to electric cars.
General Motors’ Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City is set to be overhauled to make way for the new Chevrolet Bolt EV.
Chevrolet has sold more than ten million Malibu models over the nine generations since the car’s debut.
But the brand told Car and Driver that it is now killing off the American icon.
