Ryan Seacrest’s fans are loving his new look in the latest American Idol promo.
The executives at the ABC singing competition were worried many viewers would “boycott” the show after their newest judge Carrie Underwood, who’s set to earn less than Katy Perry, decided to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Despite their concerns, they seem to have nothing to fear after their latest promo brought in a lot of positive feedback. However, to many’s surprise, the cheerful comments weren’t geared at any of the judges but their oldest cast member, host Ryan Seacrest.
American Idol posted a video of Seacrest inside the iconic room where most contestants are treated to a video from their loved ones.
This time, the television personality was greeted by his mother, who said his infamous line: “This is American Idol.”
A follower wrote: “Looks like he’s turning into another ‘Bro’ just like Zuckerburg. apparently, all it takes is growing out their hair and putting on jeans!”
Another mentioned: “That beard has got to go Ryan!”
Seacrest has been the host of American Idol since the reality competition debuted in 2002, which is the season that Kelly Clarkson infamously won. Since then, he has gone on to work on several shows including Live with Ryan and Kelly, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and Wheel of Fortune, which is his most recent gig. After Pat Sajak retired last season, Seacrest took over and now acts as the host alongside Vanna White.
The season 23 premiere of American Idol will air on ABC on March 9 at 8 pm EST.
