NORMAN – Luis Alvarez of the Oklahoma men’s tennis team completed his qualifying run at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships tournament Tuesday.
To kick off his run in the singles qualifying draw, the junior came out on top against South Carolina’s Lucas Andrade da Silva, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. On the second day of competition, Alvarez fell short in three sets against Clemson’s Maxwell Smith, 7-5, 1-6, 2-6.
The main draw of the tournament begins Wednesday and sees sophomore Kholo Montsi competing in the singles draw.
The tournament holds four doubles and ten singles qualifying positions for the NCAA Championships from November 19-24.
