American Airlines is offering passengers new ways to curate their travel experience on flights, including new entertainment content and food options.
The airline announced today that there will be a continually expanded selection of free content on every flight, as the airline plans to add 200 new titles on a monthly basis moving forward.
“New selections are inspired by current entertainment trends, customer feedback and viewing patterns, informing a thoughtfully curated collection that includes more than 1,500 movies, TV shows, audio and lifestyle offerings,” the airline said in a statement.
In addition, customers can stream video content from their own streaming platforms right to their personal devices once connected to Wi-Fi.
American Airlines has partnerships with Apple, Audible, Center Stage, FitOn and Hey Bear Sensory, which allow travelers to watch movies and TV shows, listen to hours of audio and explore new skills — all for free while in flight.
There will also be specially curated content around heritage months, seasons or pop culture topics in monthly updated channels, the airline said.
In addition to its annual Halloween channel, American has launched new special interest channels like the Hispanic Heritage Month channel that celebrates and highlights the Hispanic community and the True Crime channel for mystery and crime aficionados.
Also as part of today’s announcement, American Airlines revealed that it is bringing a new option for coffee lovers who want milk alternatives. Starting in November, American will offer a new oat milk creamer.
Customers traveling in premium cabins on transcontinental flights, as well as flights from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to both Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu and Kahului Airport in Maui, will be offered newly refreshed inflight meal options as of November, as well. The new meals feature seasonal flavors.
New transcontinental meals include, for instance, such options as beef short rib with hollandaise smoky tomato sauce, roasted fingerling potatoes, cherry tomatoes and steamed asparagus. Yet another new menu option features grilled seabass, garlic and lemon mashed potatoes, grilled zucchini and squash with caramelized onion cream sauce.
Seared salmon, gold quinoa, green beans and pesto cream sauce are also on the menu. Finally, the menu will also include grilled chicken breast, sweet potato and Yukon potato gratin, broccolini and lemon cream sauce.
American is also adding new Hawaiian meals such as five-spiced beef short rib, wasabi chive mashed potatoes, napa cabbage and tri-color carrots.
This particular menu expansion will also include chicken breast Katsu, Japanese steamed rice, broccoli and peppers with pineapple curry sauce. Lo mein noodles, teriyaki-glazed trumpet mushrooms, fried tofu and sautéed peppers, offer yet another new choice. The Hawaiian meal additions are rounded out by Huli-Huli chicken, Jasmine rice with ginger and scallions, kailan vegetables and ono glaze.
American Airlines also recently released its summer 2025 flight schedule, which includes expanded flight options for Europe.
