Free airline loyalty points are just a click away.
American Airlines recently announced a special promotion for its frequent flyers by offering bonus loyalty points on every flight. As the airline begins another year of its AAdvantage loyalty program, which re-set on March 1, the airline is providing 500 bonus loyalty points for each flight taken during the month.
While the promotion is enticing, there are several steps travelers need to take in order to be eligible. Customers must first register for the promotion from within their AAdvantage account, and then book and complete travel by March 31, 2025.
The airline also shared a ‘’pro tip’ with the announcements that connections are also eligible, so a traveler who flies from Columbus, OH to Los Angeles, CA through Miami, FL would earn 1,000 bonus points for the two flight legs.
“American Airlines is offering millions of members a launch pad to get a head start on status and rewards in 2025,” the airline shared on its promotional website.
The loyalty points help travelers achieve status with the airline faster.
American also announced several enhancements to their AAdvantage program, including the ability to purchase food and beverages during flights, with miles, starting on March 18. Frequent flyers can also now earn lifetime Executive Platinum status after reaching five million miles flown on the airline.
Reward redemptions, which can be used on everything from spring break getaways, to summer vacations, are on the rise as travelers find new ways to utilize their points, according to American.
“AAdvantage members redeemed about 15 million awards, including travel redemptions for flights and upgrades on American and other air carriers, which is the most in the program’s history and an increase of 2 million awards from the previous year,” the airline shared in a statement.
The start of the calendar year is a popular time when airlines, hotels, and other travel companies offer promotional bonuses to help entice travelers to book more trips. For example, Hyatt Hotels’ ‘Bonus Journeys’ offers 2x or 3x extra points on stays at nearly all of their 1,600 global hotels. Travelers are required to enroll before March 10, 2025 for the promotion on the World of Hyatt website.
