Awards season may be ending with the 2025 Oscars, but the best is yet to come for American Idol.
Hollywood’s biggest night is airing on ABC on Sunday, March 2, and American Idol is jumping on the awards show bandwagon with episode news folks didn’t see coming. While the 2025 season of the singing competition series officially premieres on Sunday, March 9, the network decided they’d do fans a solid by sharing a sneak preview of the upcoming season ahead of the premiere.
Airing right after the Oscars live telecast on March 2 at 10:30 p.m. ET on ABC, fans will get to see hopefuls impress Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and newest judge Carrie Underwood in order to score a place in the competition. What’s more, American Idol confirmed the exciting announcement with an Instagram video montage featuring host Ryan Seacrest and 2023 winner Iam Tongi.
“THIS! Is an #AmericanIdol reminder. 🙌,” read the official caption on February 24. “Watch a Special Preview of Season 23 after Sunday’s Oscars & our full premiere March 9! 🤩.”
When viewers learned they’d get a surprise preview of an all-new season of American Idol, it was clear they were ecstatic about getting to see their favorite show come back on air ahead of time.
“THIS! IS EXCITING 🔥😍👏,” one person wrote in the comments. “What seemed forever is so close. Can’t wait! 🤗,” another declared. “❤️ BRING ON #IDOL ❤️ I CAN’T WAIT ❤️ LET DO THIS ❤️,” a different follower added.
Well, isn’t this an exciting turn of events? While we’ll have to tune in and see which musicians will move forward on American Idol, the show has been good at delivering little tidbits about some of the aspiring artists hoping to make a statement this season.
Back on New Year’s Eve in December 2024, folks learned R&B singer Filo received a Platinum Ticket and bypassed the first round of Hollywood Week. Additionally, Backstreet Boys fans discovered Baylee Littrell (whose dad Brian is a band member) will also vie for a chance and appear on the March 9 episode.
Needless to say, this is already shaping up to be quite an exciting season!
