American Legion Post 123 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 123 reported that National Cmdr. James A. LaCoursiere Jr. recently visited the District 13 Posts in Florida to see the damages from the recent hurricanes. The Legion Riders led the commander’s entourage from the Punta Gorda Airport to Sanibel. Post 123 Cmdr. Randy Carson provided a tour of the building, which is still badly damaged. Afterward, everyone enjoyed the Post’s famous cheeseburgers made by Auxiliary member Libby Hird.
The Post is open on Mondays and Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. It serves burgers, hotdogs and other specials. There are TVs available for sports. The Post is open to the public. Membership applications are available. Post 123 is at 4249 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel.
