From July 15 to July 19, the American Legion Department of New York will convene at the Niagara Falls Convention Center, marking a notable return to the locale after a decade. The choice of Niagara Falls, with its iconic state park and the strategic efforts of the Convention Sales team, has been pivotal in securing this event, thanks to the exceptional facilities available at the convention center. John Percy, President and CEO of Destination Niagara USA, highlighted these elements as instrumental in attracting significant gatherings to the region.
This year, the convention is expected to draw approximately 800 attendees who will stay at four primary hotels in the heart of downtown Niagara Falls. The hotels—Sheraton, Wyndham, Holiday Inn, and Hyatt Place—are set to provide a total of 1,935 room nights for the participants. This considerable booking underscores the event’s scale and the logistical coordination involved in hosting such a significant number of visitors.
The economic implications of the convention are significant, with projections suggesting an impact exceeding $1 million. This influx of funds will be a substantial boost to the local economy, reflecting the importance of such events in stimulating financial activity and showcasing the area’s capacity to host large-scale gatherings.
Destination Niagara USA continues to champion Niagara County as a premier destination for both group and leisure travelers. Their ongoing efforts are geared towards bolstering the economic vitality of the area through increased tourism and visitation, further establishing Niagara Falls not only as a natural wonder but also as a thriving hub for significant professional events.
