Morgan Riddle is ready to put a very turbulent travel period behind her.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on Monday, the girlfriend of American tennis star Taylor Fritz recalled several tumultuous experiences on the road, including an alleged kidnapping attempt and “getting electrocuted.”
“My hoodie got sucked into the x-ray [machine] at TSA this morning and it reminded me of a few years ago when the one at JFK ate my shoe and we looked for it for 30 mins and then I had to do a 10 hour travel day with a singular shoe,” Riddle began, showing the sweatshirt in question.
The fashion influencer then pivoted to the series of harrowing events, explaining, “My eaten shoe got me revisiting the not-so glam moments of traveling the last few years lets recap.”
“Food poisoning in: Paris, Melbourne & Acapulco twice (hence why I didn’t go this year),” Riddle captioned a slide that featured her lying in bed.
A separate slide revealed how Riddle grappled with Airbnb break-ins in Santorini, Ibiza and London.
“Happened to be in the residence during all three,” she shared.
Riddle, who has been dating the 27-year-old Fritz since 2020, then recounted when the couple “tested positive for covid and got imprisoned in an 8 day government quarantine in Korea.” At the time, Fritz used Riddle as part of his weight training regimen in their hotel room, as seen in a clip on her Instagram Story.
Riddle then transitioned to her time in Eastbourne, England, stating she got “electrocuted” while sharing an image of her injured legs.
Beyond travel mishaps in Shanghai and Amsterdam — where she consumed a “space brownie” and “ended up crying on the bathroom floor for 4 hours,” believing she “was having a heart attack” — one of the most terrifying ordeals Riddle dealt with was an “attempted kidnapping in Acapulco last year.”
In footage shared on her Instagram Story, Riddle zoomed in on an individual standing behind a tree and alleged, “He & another guy tried to grab me and chased me down the beach and I had to sprint and scream for help from the security guards at the hotel.”
Riddle said she was warned ahead of time by tournament advisors “not to go out by ourselves.”
“Moral of the story travel is fun but stay vigilant ladies,” Riddle concluded.
Riddle, who boasts more than 400,000 followers on Instagram, frequently chronicles her journeys supporting Fritz, the world’s current No. 4.
The 2024 U.S. Open finalist — who fell to Italy’s Jannik Sinner in September — will next compete at this week’s BNP Paribas Open.
