Several months of speculation came to a end on Saturday afternoon when Choctaw County wide receiver Caleb Cunningham reached a decision about his college future.
After not being shy about saying his favorite in the recruiting process was Alabama in the spring, Cunningham made it official when he committed to the Crimson Tide.
There is always the possibility that Cunningham could change his mind prior to signing day, but he did not sound like an athlete entertaining that thought on Saturday.
An official visit to the campus in Tuscaloosa seemed to sell Cunningham on Alabama.
“Bama is Bama,” Cunningham said in an interview with Chad Simmons of On3 Sports. “They have produced a lot of receivers and they have the resources there to help me be successful. I love their coaching staff and It was a great visit.”
The 6-3, 190-pound receiver also received interest from other Southeastern Conference schools Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Auburn.
As a junior with the Chargers, Cunningham caught 48 passes for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Cunningham and Choctaw County will open the 2024 season at Parklane Academy on August 30.
