American tennis star Coco Gauff’s mother and brother, Candi and Codey, tipped their hats to the World No. 2 after her rip-roading start at the “United Cup” mixed team event in Australia.
Coco played a key role in Team USA’s defeat of Northern American rivals Canada. After a relatively straightforward 6-3, 6-2 win over US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez in her singles rubber, the American teamed up with Taylor Fritz to defeat the team-up of Fernandez and Felix Auger-Aliasimme in the decisive doubles.
After the big win, Coco took to Instagram to post a series of pictures from the tie against Canada. She captioned her post:
“We are so back. new szn, better me.”
The American’s message was hailed by many, including members of her family. Coco’s brother Codey shared the post on his own Instagram stories.
Coco’s mother, Candi, also took note of the pictures. She wrote in a comment on her daughter’s post:
“2025!!!”
Notably, Coco Gauff has been spending quality time with her family since landing in Australia for the United Cup. She shared several moments from her Christmas celebrations, including riding a rollercoaster and colorful fireworks marking the special day.

Despite not being able to win a Grand Slam in 2024, the year proved to be one of the most successful seasons of Coco Gauff’s career. She won her second WTA 1000 title at the China Open and capped off the season with her first WTA World Tour Finals title.
Meanwhile, Serena Williams’ former coach Rick Macci has predicted that Gauff will go on to win multiple Grand Slams. Macci wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“With her sprinter speed bullet backhand and a backbone made of granite and lets plug in that extreme DNA athletic ability Coco Gauff in Time will Time and Time again be a multiple Grand Slam Champion.”
Macci has also predicted that Gauff will soon rise to the top of the WTA rankings.
“Her overall quickness is number One. Her make up speed is number One. Her backbone is number One. Her slice serve on the duce court is number One. Coming soon to a court near you Coco Gauff will be number One.”
She reached her peak ranking of World No. 2 in June this year. Notably, Coco split with Brad Gilbert in September after working with the coach for just over a year. She has added Matt Daly to her coaching staff.
