San Salvador, Oct 21 (PL) Cuba said goodbye to the Pan American Table Tennis Championship with the gold medal in the women’s team final, after defeating the Chilean team in the final.
The final score in the victory of the Cubans was 3-1. On their way to the title, they defeated Brazil in the semifinals and the United States before them.
In the men’s division, the U.S. team won the gold medal against Argentina with a 3-0 score.
In the men’s singles, Brazil’s Hugo Calderano won the gold medal after defeating fellow Brazilian Victor Ishiy 4-0 in the final, and in the women’s singles Ariana Diaz, from Puerto Rico, confirmed her status as favorite and defeated Brazil’s Bruna Takahashi with a 4-2 score.
In the women’s doubles, Brazil’s Giulia Takahashi and Laura Watanabe defeated Chile’s Paulina Vega and Daniela Ortega 3-0, while in the men’s doubles, Argentina’s Horacio Cifuentes and Santiago Lorenzo defeated Cuba’s Andy Pereira and Jorge Campos 3-0.
In the mixed doubles, the cariocas Theodoro Guilherme and Giulia Takahashi beat their compatriots Hugo Calderano and Bruna Takahashi 3-2.
