An American football player from Bourne has been called up to play for Team GB in their final game of the Women’s European Championship.
Tanya Dales has previously played for teams in the area like South Lincolnshire Lightning and the Peterborough Royals where she was named most valuable defensive player earlier this year.
The linebacker has been selected for all four squads in the European Championship and was part of the World Championship side that won silver in 2022.
The first fixture of the tournament saw the Lions emerge victorious, in a dream start to the Championship, beating Sweden 40-0 on home soil.
They now return to the Sixways Stadium, Worcester, after suffering defeats to both Germany and Spain, to fight for a three-way-tie to keep their hopes of securing a silver alive.
Team GB will play Finland at home on Saturday (August 17) with the game kicking off at 5pm.
Ahead of the final Dales said: “Everyone is feeling optimistic and our fans make a noticeable difference whether you’re playing or on the sidelines.”
