Dean Burmester led the South African charge in the opening round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday.
Burmester shot a two-under par 69 to sit tied for 32nd. He is seven shots adrift of American leader Xander Schauffele, who matched the lowest round in major golf history by firing a nine-under-par 62.
