Georgia football holds high expectations this season, both from fans and the media. The Bulldogs possess a stacked roster that was well-represented on the 2024 Preseason Media Days All-SEC Team. The list included 15 Bulldogs with Georgia picked to win the conference.
The First Team included six Bulldogs, the most of any school. On offense, quarterback Carson Beck, running back Trevor Etienne and offensive lineman Tate Ratledge represented Georgia. On defense, defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse, linebacker Mykel Williams and safety Malaki Starks made the list.
Beck and Etienne headline a Georgia offense that is expected to be its strength. The quarterback returned to the Bulldogs after leading the SEC in yards passing during his first season under center. Etienne, who will join Beck in the backfield, transferred to Georgia after two seasons at Florida.
Ratledge also returned for his final season between the hedges. Throughout his collegiate career thus far, the offensive lineman only surrendered one sack in 29 games. He will help lead a unit that allowed less than a sack per game last year but is losing multiple key contributors.
Stackhouse, Williams and Starks will anchor a defense facing no shortage of elite passers. The two lineman will aim to make opposing backfields uncomfortable, while Starks leads a Georgia secondary expected to have contributions from young players.
With names such as Kamari Lassiter, Javon Bullard, Tykee Smith, Zion Logue and Tramel Walthour off to the NFL, the three First Team members will provide a steady presence for the Bulldogs’ defense as it develops throughout the season.
Five Bulldogs made the Second Team, including offensive linemen Xavier Truss and Dylan Fairchild, linebacker Smael Mondon Jr., punter Brett Thorson and receiver/returner Dillon Bell.
Defensive back Daylen Everette, receiver Dominic Lovett, tight end Oscar Delp and offensive lineman Earnest Greene III rounded out the Bulldogs’ selections with Third Team honors.
Overall, Georgia had eight offensive, five defensive and two special teams representatives. The Bulldogs begin their 2024 campaign Aug. 31 against Clemson.
