CBS Sports lists Malik Nabers among top instant impact rookies
The Giants selected wide receiver Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick in order to provide the offense with a significant boost, both this season and beyond.
According to some in the media, Nabers’ effect on the offense might be felt sooner rather than later.
CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso recently broke down the top 10 rookies he believes could have the biggest immediate impact this upcoming season, and the Giants’ first-year receiver landed at No. 2.
“Nabers is different,” wrote Trapasso. “The personification of electricity on a football field. And he’s 6-foot and around 200 pounds. He tracks the football like a champ and was the finest YAC wideout in the class. Burst, vision, and a borderline unshakable equilibrium when contacted by the first — and sometimes the second — defender.”
Nabers finished the 2023 campaign with 1,569 receiving yards, which marked his second consecutive year with more than 1,000 yards. He also recorded 89 receptions and lead the FBS in receiving yards while ranking No. 2 in receiving touchdowns at the conclusion of the regular season.
The 20-year-old registered the most 10+ yard plays, 20+ yard plays and 30+ yard plays last year. He finished his collegiate career as LSU’s all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards, and was named Unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC for his standout 2023 campaign.
Nabers also brought in 72 passes for 1,017 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore in 2022.
