GOOD Morning Football will return with a mixture of familiar faces and some new ones after a controversial cross-country move.
The NFL Network signature show will officially relaunch on Monday, July 29, from its new studios in Los Angeles, California.
GMFB hosts Jamie Erdahl, Peter Schrager, and Kyle Brandt will return to the show, which will now air from 8-10 am ET Monday through Friday.
Schrager and Brandt will split their hosting duties between Los Angeles and New York.
The duo have young families based on the East Coast.
There had been uncertainty over whether Schrager and Brandt would return to the show in recent months.
The trio will be joined by two new arrivals, Sherree Burruss and former NFL star Akbar Gbajabiamila.
The moves follow Jason McCourty’s decision not to return to the show following its move from New York to LA.
Gbajabiamila joins as the fourth person at the GMFB desk, while Burruss will work as a news reporter.
Gbajabiamila is a four-year NFL veteran who spent eight years as an NFL Network analyst from 2012-19.
He has hosted NBC’s American Ninja Warrior since 2013.
Burruss, who joined the NFL Network team in February 2023, will relocate from Washington, D.C.
“I’m happy to be with my guy Kyle for yet another era of the program, look forward to keep talking football every morning with Jamie, and have long appreciated Akbar and Sherree’s work,” Schrager told USA Today.
Brandt believes the show will continue to be successful despite its numerous changes.
“In our first three years, we worked in three different studios. Nate Burleson left and we won (an Emmy Award). It doesn’t make sense,” Brandt said.
“But that’s the way we like it. ‘Friends having fun with football.’ It keeps working. This will, too.”
The show’s brand will also expand with GMFB: Overtime, a new two-hour daily show that premieres on The Roku Channel on July 29.
Hosted by the same crew, the spinoff show will “cover game topics, as well as the entertainment and lifestyle surrounding the NFL.”
GMFB is on hiatus over the summer as it switches filming locations from New York to Los Angeles.
Burruss revealed her delight in joining the high-profile show.
“When you think NFL Network, you think Good Morning Football,” she said.
“So, to be able to join this iconic show is one of those ‘pinch me moments’ and a professional highlight for me.”
GMFB and GMFB: Overtime are produced by NFL Media.
