SAINT DAVY put in a good run at Sandown where his lack of experience probably counted against him in third to the reopposing Handstands. This flatter track at Ffos Las (if it passes a morning inspection) and the 2m 4f trip should suit. He can turn the tables on Handstands.
The Jaon & Dan Moore 2m 1f Handicap Chase is always an informative contest and AMERICAN MIKE strikes me as a leading contender. Carl Millar takes 5lbs off his back and that will help his cause. He handles testing ground, and put in a decent run when dropped right back to this trip last time over course and distance, behind The Folkes Tiara. He started favourite in the Troytown Chase at Navan over 3m when sixth, but this trip could be more suitable. He has tonnes of potential if putting it all together.
ROSSCAHILL is a dual winner at this track since making a winning point-to-point debut in Ireland. He can look a little ungainly in running, but knows how to get the job done, and has won all three of his races to date. The step up to 3m shouldn’t pose a problem either.
He ran a very good race last time at Exeter when second to Martalite in a competitive amateur jockeys’ handicap hurdle. Ground conditions shouldn’t be a problem and Josh Newman who knows him so well is on board again.
Joe Tizzard’s Triple Trade He’s been running in better races than this and the fact he should stay further will help over 2m in testing ground. He could still be reasonably well handicapped for a test like this.
