The 2024 grand slam season continues with the French Open at Roland Garros, which gets underway on Sunday, May 26.
Carlos Alcaraz and defending French Open champion Novak Djokovic enter the event as favorites on the men’s side. Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas make up the rest of the top five. Two-time French Open runner-up Casper Ruud is the sixth favorite, followed by 14-time winner of the event Rafael Nadal.
Djokovic won last year at the expense of Ruud, claiming glory at Roland Garros by way of a 7-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory.
World No. 1 and two-time defending champion Iga Swiatek comes into France as the favorite on the women’s side. Swiatek is coming off wins in both the Madrid Open and the Italian Open. Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina follow her on the list of favorites.
