BOULDER, Colo– The incredible week of accolades for University of Colorado superstar Travis Hunter rolls on, as the two-way standout earned first-team Sports Illustrated All-American honors on both offense and defense, the magazine announced Friday. The latest honor is Hunter’s eighth since Monday, marking a week of awards as historic as the Junior’s season, with potentially one more, the Heisman Trophy, which will be announced on Saturday.
The magazine singled out Hunter as a first-team wide receiver and a first-team cornerback. Surprisingly, he was the only Buffaloes player selected for the first-team, second-team, or honorable mention. Sports Illustrated singled out Hunter’s 92 catches for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns on offense and his four interceptions, 11 passes defended, 32 tackles, and a forced fumble on defense.
Hunter’s trophy collection continues to grow exponentially. Since Monday, he’s won the Lott IMPACT Award (defense), the Paul Hornung Award (versatility), AP Player of the Year, the Bednarik (defense), Biletnikoff (receiver), and Walter Camp (player of the year), in addition to first team honors on the Camp All-America team on offense and defense.
When the awards dust settles, Hunter and the rest of the Buffaloes will begin preparation for BYU in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28.
