AUSTIN, Texas – College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday the 2023-24 Academic All-America® women’s basketball teams for NCAA Division I-II-III and NAIA. Jamie Pickens of Carroll College has been named a First Team NAIA Academic All-American.
Academic All-American is a title reserved for college student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom. The all-time list of 40,000+ Academic All-Americans includes major sports stars and some of the world’s most accomplished individuals in medicine, business, science and the arts. Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions.
Jamie Pickens can now add yet another title to her impressive, and growing, list of accomplishments in her storied four-year Carroll career. The senior, who is majoring in Nursing, carries a 3.57 GPA, having to work around a rigorous academic schedule, as well as clinical rotations during a senior campaign in which she helped lead her team to unprecedented success.
Pickens was named both Frontier Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-American, as well as NAIA National Player of the Year in 2023-24.
She is the first Carroll Women’s Basketball player to hold the distinction of First Team Academic All-American.
Nominating and voting for Academic All-America® is an exclusive right of College Sports Communicators members.
The five members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.93, with the entire NAIA team carrying a collective average GPA of 3.90.
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 NAIA Academic All-America® program.
