JASON Kelce revealed he’s anxious about his new ESPN job after retiring from the NFL in March.
The Philadelphia Eagles legend will be an analyst for Monday Night Football this fall.
Kelce signed a multi-year deal with ESPN to appear on MNF’s pregame and halftime coverage.
The 36-year-old had previously been an NFL offensive lineman for 13 years, making the Pro Bowl seven times and winning a Super Bowl during that span.
On Friday, Kelce shares his uneasiness about his new gig while on the Whiskey Ginger podcast with comedian Andrew Santino.
“I’m nervous. And I think that’s good,” he said.
“Every game I ever played in my life, that I played really well [in], I was nervous for, at least a healthy amount.
“Not like to the point where you think you can’t do it, but there’s a healthy amount of respect for your opponent… whenever I played a really good player I always felt like I played better, because all week I was really into preparing for this guy.”
Kelce continued, “When you put more effort into it because of that nervousness, I think it usually results in a better product.
“Now, once you’re out there you can’t be nervous, you just gotta go, but I think it’s healthy to be nervous with where I’m at right now.”
Jason enters the ESPN role with some experience in broadcasting.
Last season, he appeared on Amazon Prime‘s Thursday Night Football.
Kelce was an analyst for the primetime game while his Eagles were on a bye week.
Networks were reportedly on the prowl of singing him to a broadcasting deal following his retirement.
Jason’s outgoing personality has been displayed on the New Heights podcast.
He co-hosts the show with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
The podcast debuted in 2022 and is released every Wednesday.
The brothers address “New News,” “No Dumb Questions,” and often include interviews with the biggest names in the NFL and entertainment.
Jason’s first game for ESPN will be a huge one.
He’ll analyze the 2023-24 NFC champion San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets when the two face off in Week 1 on September 9.
