The Baltimore Ravens are looking to showcase quarterback Lamar Jackson’s immense talent.
Jackson made his training camp debut on Saturday after missing the first week with an illness. Following the practice, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that his team has full confidence in Jackson and is working to make sure he receives proper recognition.
“He’s the best quarterback in football, we believe,” Harbaugh said, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN. “And we are determined to prove it.”
Jackson has quite the case to be called the best quarterback in the league. He has compiled a career record of 58-19 and has thrown for 15,887 yards with 125 touchdowns. He has also added 5,258 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns.
These stats have helped him earn three Pro Bowl selections and two MVP awards, with the most recent coming in 2023. What hurts his case is a lack of significant success in the postseason. He has a 2-4 record in the postseason and only a single trip to the AFC Championship.
That’s where his Ravens team can help him establish his claim as the top quarterback in the league. The team went 13-4 in the regular season in 2023 and improved the roster with the addition of running back Derrick Henry in the offseason.
That should take some of the rushing load off of Jackson, who led the team with 821 rushing yards, and make the Ravens offense even more dynamic. Still, Baltimore’s chances at a Super Bowl lie with Jackson’s play, and he will hope to execute at an elite level once again in 2024.
