Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs may be going head-to-head for the sport’s ultimate prize but Kings Youth American Football Club, who are based in Duloch, last month celebrated a momentous achievement of their own by winning a national competition for a second successive year.

Their under-12s team took part in the Scottish Flag Football Winter League, which was held at Motherwell’s Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, and came out on top.

Three Kings teams took part in the competition, held on January 4, and it was their ‘A’ side who claimed the glory.

Kings Youth American Football Club won an under-12s national competition for a second successive year. (Image: Kings Youth American Football Club.) They won all six of their matches played in a round-robin format, finishing ahead of runners-up, Hamilton Buccs, and Kings ‘C’, who placed third.

Craig Dobbie, who has recently taken over as chairman of the club, and revealed that the coaches are planning to enjoy a Super Bowl party, said: “We’ve had quite a lot of new players joining recently.

“We’ve got 46 kids at the minute, and we’re hoping to attract more.

“We do as much as we can, with things like school taster sessions, which is where most of the kids have come from.”

In November, we reported that the Kings, which focuses on flag football, which is a non-contact version of the sport, and is due to make its Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028, were looking to start a girls team this year.

During the winter, training takes place on Thursday evenings, at Inverkeithing High School, and on Saturdays at Duloch Leisure Centre.
