Hancock College sophomore wide receiver Makai Puga has earned a spot on the 2024 All-America Community College Football Team.
Puga landed a spot on the First Team offense. The JC Athletic Bureau/California Community College Football Coaches Association selected the Community College All-America team.
Puga is an Arroyo Grande native. He was a First Team All-American and a First Team All-State (Region 3) selection. Puga amassed a single season Hancock school record 1,146 receiving yards through 10 games played. Puga broke the previous school record of 1,104 yards set by Shane Henderson in 2011 for 11 games played.
The Arroyo Grande native pulled in 11 touchdown passes in 2024, one touchdown shy of the Hancock single season school record. He racked up 1,812 all-purpose yards in 10 games.
Puga’s average of 114.6 receiving yards per game puts him second among all 3C2A competitors. Puga was a unanimous First Team All-League selection as a wide receiver in the National Northern League.
Hancock finished 6-5 overall after making its third consecutive bowl appearance and 23rd in program history. Golden West beat the Bulldogs 28-7 in the Southern California Bowl at Huntington Beach-based Golden West.
The Bulldogs finished tied for fourth in the Northern League at 4-3.
