Legendary India cricketer has been enjoying his time off the field after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The wicketkeeper batter was recently spotted having fun time with friends in the USA as he was even in attendance to watch a game of American football.
One of Dhoni’s close friends shared the photos of his trip as he was captured with Fed Ex CEO Raj Subramaniam. The legendary cricketer looked in a jolly good mood as he posed for photographs with his friends exhibiting the holiday spirit.
Dhoni was last seen playing during Match 68 of the IPL 2024 between RCB and CSK. The star batter had a great chance to take his team into the playoffs as CSK needed 17 runs from the last over to qualify. He started the last over bowled by Yash Dayal in grand fashion smashing him away for a six.
However, he got out the very next ball and CSK failed to score the required 201 runs to advance ahead into the competition. Following his dismissal, Dhoni was fuming with anger and he even left the field without shaking the hands of the opposition.
The IPL 2024 was expected to be the last season ever of the legendary cricketer as he had promised to play one more season for his fans after their victorious campaign in 2023. However, the Ranchi-born cricketer has not given any clarification on his retirement yet.
Recently, at an event, Dhoni said that he will do what’s best for his team. Meanwhile, the IPL governing council is yet to release the retention rules for the upcoming season of the competition. The IPL 2025 will witness a mega auction where the teams will have to name their retained players ahead of the bidding event.
The retention rules are also likely to play a major role in Dhoni’s future in the team as CSK will have to let go of other top performing players if they choose to retain their legendary skipper. Hence, it will be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming weeks as Dhoni’s future in the franchise will become clearer.
