My Hero Academia: You’re Next Set To Soar In North American Theatres On THIS Date
The wait is over. On October 11, this year, North American theatres will welcome the eagerly anticipated fourth instalment of the My Hero Academia film series, titled You’re Next. Distributed by Toho International, the film will be screened in both English-subtitled and dubbed versions, catering to fans eager to delve deeper into the heroic world of Izuku Midoriya.
Based on Kōhei Horikoshi’s beloved manga, You’re Next continues the story of Midoriya as he goes to Japan in pursuit of his superhero aspirations. Directed by seasoned animator Tensai Okamura and written by renowned anime screenwriter Yōsuke Kuroda, now anime lovers can’t wait for the film.
Excitement for the North American premiere took over the internet during a special event at the 2024 Anime Expo in Los Angeles, where attendees were treated to an exclusive sneak peek of the film’s opening scenes.
Toho International’s decision to bring You’re Next to North American audiences follows the monumental success of Godzilla Minus One, reinforcing their strategy to dominate both Japanese and Western markets. This move is all set to build on the franchise’s established popularity, mirrored in the box office triumphs of previous My Hero Academia films distributed by Sony-owned Funimation.
Speaking of box office success, the My Hero Academia franchise has consistently delivered impressive numbers in the U.S., with Two Heroes earning $5.8 million, Heroes Rising $13.3 million, and World Heroes’ Mission $12.3 million.
Beyond financial success, My Hero Academia has made a significant cultural impact, transcending its origins to become a cultural phenomenon celebrated for its rich characters and storytelling. The global enthusiasm for Japanese anime is exemplified by record-breaking films like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train.
