One of the most monumental events of a football player’s life is being drafted into the NFL, and three standouts from the University of Oregon and University of Washington are set to hear their names called within the first two rounds of this year’s NFL Draft, which begins Thursday, April 25, in Detroit, Mich.
While Washington WR Rome Odunze is expected to be drafted in the top 10 picks, QBs Michael Penix Jr. (Washington) and Bo Nix (Oregon) have question marks surrounding their draft positions. That leaves it wide open for some interesting wagers on those two, so let’s take a look at the NFL Draft odds for Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr., and Rome Odunze.

Odunze established himself as one of the nation’s most elite playmakers, and that will pay off in the early going on Thursday night. That says something a little extra this year because of how stacked this wide receiver class is.
It is likely that Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. and LSU’s Malik Nabers go in the top 6 or 7 picks, meaning Odunze will probably be the third receiver off the board shortly after those two go. That much is obvious if you look at some of Odunze’s odds.
Odds for Rome Odunze to be a Top 5 Pick:
Odds for Rome Odunze to be a Top 10 Pick:
Betting Odunze to be picked in the top 10 doesn’t have any value, and the odds for him to be picked in the Top 5 make it seem like it’s going to be a stretch.
On FanDuel and Caesars, however, you can bet on Odunze’s specific draft position.
The New York Giants (No. 6 pick) and the Tennessee Titans (No. 7) both are in desperate need of wide receivers, but it’s the Chicago Bears who are the favorite to take Odunze with the No. 9 pick. Since they are expected to draft Southern California QB Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick, Odunze would be a fantastic addition.

The production from Michael Penix Jr. in his two seasons at Washington was phenomenal (9,500 yards, 77 TDs, 19 INTs), and he proved his ability as a big-game player this season while leading the Huskies to two wins over Oregon and one over Texas in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
So what’s not to like about the slingin’ lefty, and why aren’t his NFL draft odds better?
He has a supremely strong arm, but he tries to use that strength too often. It works well on big passes downfield and outside the numbers, but it doesn’t work well in the middle of the field. NFL quarterbacks need to have touch and precision, and more often than not, Penix has shown he prefers power.
Still, the upside of his arm might be too much for a QB-needy team to pass up. That is illustrated in the odds for Penix to be drafted in the first round: DraftKings (-130); FanDuel (-105).
If you’re looking for something a little juicier on Penix, take a look at the odds for which team will draft him. This betting market is perhaps the best evidence for having multiple online sportsbook accounts because the odds are so different from one betting app to another.
Team to draft Michael Penix:
Throughout his college career at Auburn and Oregon, Bo Nix has proven to be an intelligent player with an uncanny knack of avoiding the negative play. Staying ahead of the chains is the name of the game in the NFL, so that attribute might be attractive for an NFL team.
Is Nix going to excel from the start at the pro level? Probably not. But he does have the ability to learn advanced pre-snap reads if given time. An NFL team that doesn’t need a rookie QB to start from day one would be a prime landing spot for Nix.
NFL Draft odds for Nix show that it would be a bit of an upset for him to be selected in the first round. FanDuel’s odds for Nix to be a first-round pick are +115. At DraftKings, those odds are +160.
In fact, if you want to compare Nix to Penix, you can do that at DraftKings, where Penix (-215) is favored to be selected before Nix (+175) in the Draft Matchup tab.
According to the best sports betting apps, the most likely team to draft Nix is the Denver Broncos.
