MINNESOTA Vikings offensive lineman Coy Cronk has been cut in a surprise move.
The team confirmed that Cronk, 26, has been waived with with a non-football injury designation.
His injury has not been disclosed by the franchise.
Cronk signed with the Vikings practice squad in November but did not play a game last season.
After entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa in 2021, he was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He moved between the Jags’ practice squad and active roster for just over two seasons before being released.
Cronk played in three games for the Jaguars in 2022 – managing six offensive snaps and 15 on special teams.
His only game action came in three games with the Jaguars in 2022 when he played six offensive snaps and 15 on special teams.
Minnesota has plenty of work to do this offseason after seeing quarterback Kirk Cousins join the Atlanta Falcons.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell is expected to be eyeing a replacement in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The Vikings have two picks in the first round and have been tipped to package them both to move into position to draft a passer.
NFL host Kay Adams has predicted that four quarterbacks will be taken with the first four overall picks later this month.
The 2024 draft class is packed with talented young passers, including Caleb Williams, Jayden McDaniels, Drake Maye, JJ McCarthy, and Michael Penix Jr.
“I genuinely think we’re going to see four quarterbacks taken within the top four picks for the very first time in NFL history,” she said on her Up & Adams show.
“It’s never happened, people.”
Williams is almost certain to be wearing a Chicago Bears uniform next season but after that, possibilities open up.
McDaniels and Maye are likely to be off the board before the Vikings get to pick but McCarthy’s name has been circulated as a potential fit.
“It’s definitely some jealousy on that side”
Justin Jefferson on LSU teammates
Earlier this month, Vikings star Justin Jefferson revealed that it still doesn’t sit well with him that his former LSU teammates are on the same roster in the NFL.
The Pro Bowl wide receiver shared his jealousy about Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase playing together on the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I love the chemistry that they have with each other, but it’s definitely some jealousy on that side,” Jefferson told Kevin Hart‘s Cold as Balls program.
“We always want the best for each other, but also we wanna be better than one another so it was always a competitive thing.
“But I loved it, being at LSU with him – (Chase) is my brother. So it’s something that’s gonna last forever.”
