North American Bancard (NAB), a US-based fintech, is to establish an R&D centre-of-excellence in Limerick City which will lead to the creation of 54 jobs.
The new base will be responsible for developing the company’s portfolio of next generation risk management products and services.
The open roles are in the areas of product managers, architects, designers, developers, engineers and data scientists.
NAB provides payments technology for mobile, ecommerce, and in-store environments.
It serves hundreds of thousands of businesses and with over $100 billion per year in electronic transaction volume.
Dr Christopher Mascaro, Chief Risk Officer, of North American Bancard, said the new specialist R&D facility in Limerick will focus on addressing the global issue of payments fraud.
“As a company, NAB strives to provide state-of-the-art payments solutions that meet the needs of all our partners and merchants, across a wide spectrum of industries,” Dr Mascaro said.
“Ensuring that our partners are protected in an ever evolving landscape of fraud is a critical step in the journey,” he added.
The project is supported by the Government through IDA Ireland.
“Limerick is the perfect base for industry of this kind,” said Minister for Research, Innovation and Science, Patrick O’Donovan.
“Risk management solutions are important for us all, as we increasingly rely upon financial institutions to be resilient and withstand attacks,” Mr O’Donovan said.
Executive Director of IDA Ireland Mary Buckley welcomed North American Bancard’s decision to establish operations in Limerick.
“This move underscores the region’s exceptional talent and technical capabilities, further elevating its profile as a hub for payments investments and advanced R&D initiatives,” Ms Buckley said.
