After winning his first doubles match alongside his Spaniard compatriot Carlos Alcaraz, Rafael Nadal was noncommittal about whether he would play singles in Paris 2024.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Nadal said. “I don’t know if I’m going to play or not.”

Nadal said he will chat with his team before making the “smartest decision possible to have the best chances of bringing a medal back home.” The two-time Olympic gold medalist is scheduled to play his first-round singles match Sunday against Hungary’s Márton Fucsovics.

Nadal, the 22-time Slam champion, came into the Olympics after making the final last week at the Swedish Open. But there are injury concerns with Nadal, as evidenced by his right thigh taped during Saturday’s match.

Asked whether the Paris Olympics would be his last tournament, Nadal said he hasn’t made a decision.

“I don’t know. I didn’t make any decision to say anything,” Nadal said.

Nadal/Alcaraz upset the sixth seed from Argentina Andrés Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez 7-6 (4), 6-4.
