The New England Patriots, like the other 31 teams in the league, are constructing their rosters for the 2024 season with the hope of competing in the near future.

With the draft nearing, much of the attention is on the seven-round selection process, but the Patriots are still looking at veterans to add.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, New England hosted three tight ends for workouts this week – Brycen Hopkins, Sean McKeon and Mitchell Wilcox.

Hopkins, 27, was a fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams back in 2020 following a collegiate career at Purdue. In his four seasons in Los Angeles, he recorded just 13 receptions for 196 yards.

McKeon, 26, played collegiately at Michigan before going undrafted in 2020 and signing with the Dallas Cowboys. Spending the last four seasons in Dallas, he recorded just six receptions for 38 yards and a lone touchdown. He also has local ties, as he played high school football at Shepherd Hill Regional in Dudley, Massachusetts.

Wilcox, 27, played at South Florida before being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020. In four seasons with Cincinnati, he recorded 29 receptions for 211 yards and a score.

The Patriots currently have Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper and La’Michael Pettway on the roster, but there’s an obvious need for more depth at the position. They’ll try to fill that with either a veteran or a rookie before they really get to work on the practice fields.
